White Collar Criminal Defense
James Sabalos is an attorney with years of criminal, commercial and tort litigation experience. He is licensed and practices law in Nevada, California, Texas and the District of Columbia. He has tried numerous criminal cases. His criminal practice includes white collar crime representing clients before state and federal grand jury proceedings and defending criminal cases in both state and federal courts. He has served as a Trial Attorney for the US Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney-Criminal Division for the Southern District of Texas prosecuting and later, in private practice, defending cases involving mail and wire fraud, theft of trademark secrets, anti-trust and securities fraud litigation, defense of violation of consumer fraud claims, environmental claims, bank fraud, money laundering, health care fraud, investigations by regulatory authorities and agencies at both the state and federal level including insurance fraud. Mr. Sabalos has also represented clients on many state law criminal violations brought by state prosecutors in Nevada, California, Texas and nationwide.
Mr. Sabalos has represented clients in numerous civil actions including theft of trade secrets, contract and UCC litigation, tort and product liability claims involving auto-truck and premises liability cases utilizing forensic and medical experts in all cases including claims for Defendants as well as Plaintiffs. Mr. Sabalos has represented Fortune 500 clients as well as small business entities in commercial and business disputed cases. His practice has also included conducting internal investigations for corporate clients, representing officers and directors and Board of Directors in civil commercial cases and has worked with numerous law firms in representing clients in joint defense arrangements involving large commercial disputes including employment and whistle-blower litigation. His practice also includes substantial product liability defense of manufacturers and suppliers facing tort and product litigation in state and federal courts nationwide.
Mr. Sabalos has served as an Adjunct Law Professor at the University of Houston Law School and at the Jones Graduate Business School in Houston, Texas with courses in corporate, energy and white-collar crime. He practices law throughout Nevada, California and Texas where he is licensed to practice and has been involved in civil, tort and criminal cases in over 22 states, nationwide. His broad range of trial experience has also resulted in his providing lectures to the American Bar Association Annual meeting in Chicago and lecturing federal prosecutors at conferences on organized crime. He is a graduate of the University of Arizona and holds a Master's Degree from the University of Arizona and received in law degree in California from the California Western School of Law.
